Plein-Air:
This term is taken from the French, "en plein air," meaning "in the open air." Essentially, it refers to a painting done out of doors, rather than in a studio.
Anthony Salvo began drawing at an early age. He started oil painting at 12. With great enthusiasm, support and encouragement from his parents and uncle, he continued to pursue his love of art. During his high school and junior college years, he took every art class available.

Anthony transferred to Art Center College of Design to complete his formal education, graduating with honors, and receiving a BFA in Graphic Design and Packaging. After working in the design and advertising industries for only a couple of years, he established his own design firm. Anthony Salvo has been CEO and owner of The Salvo Design Group, Inc., for the past 20 years.

In late 2006, Anthony became interested in Plein Air art. After attending a few workshops, he found Plein Air painting to be challenging and invigorating. He was captivated by working in the outside environment, capturing the light, and trying to illustrate the visual sensations of moments past. This was the catalyst that inspired Anthony to go back to his roots as an artist - regaining his passion for the arts, and now, Plein Air painting.

For years people have been collecting Anthony's artwork. More of Anthony's fine art images can be viewed at www.salvofineart.com.

While Anthony's journey began many years ago, this is not where it ends. In fact, this is just the beginning.
